Guidelines for Application AIBF Professional Deveopment Scholarships North

Eligibility Criteria and Submission Guidelines:
All applicants MUST meet the following criteria:

1. Be a resident of Alberta, and have at least one of their band ensembles register and participate in either of the Edmonton or Calgary Alberta International Band Festivals.
2. Be a current grade junior, middle or senior high school band director.
3. Provide a resume of background, education and professional development goals.
4. Demonstrate a strong desire to improve as an educator.
5. Submit a letter of intent, briefly outlining the reasons why you would be a good candidate for this scholarship.
6. Please be sure to include school and home mailing information, as well as pertinent email and telephone numbers.

Application and Selection Process:
Each year, prior to the Alberta International Band Festival, application forms and related materials will be made available to band directors and potential candidates via e-newsletters and on the AIBF website. Applicants will be required to submit their applications so they are received by the assigned deadline each year.

Applications should be sent to Rob Speers at vpedmonton@aibfestival.ca on or before March 1st, 2024. Please attach all documents requested above and ensure that the Subject Heading reads "AIBF PD Scholarship Application".

The successful applicants will be selected based on the strength of his/her application by the AIBF Scholarship Selection Committee. The decision of the Committee will be final.
