AIBF CALGARY
Welcome to the Calgary Alberta International Band Festival - "Where young Albertans learn to play, and play to learn." We're excited to announce that 2025 will be our 54th year!
The Alberta International Band Festivals (Northern Alberta and Southern Alberta) are run by volunteers.
The festival is a charitable organization dedicated to providing a performance platform for junior high/middle school, high school, and community bands. The Festivals are held each year in Calgary and Edmonton. Organizers are committed to providing participants with a valuable and stimulating educational experience in a non-competitive atmosphere as either a concert band or a jazz ensemble.
Registration for the 2025 Calgary Alberta International Band Festival is based on first-come, first-served basis. Register early to avoid disappointment. Registration is open now and will close on November 30th, 2024.
For additional information about or questions concerning the Alberta International Band Festival (Calgary), please contact our Director of Operations - Cathy MacRae - at info@aibfestival.ca.

Register NowWednesday, February 19th - Saturday, February 22nd, 2025
University Theatre (University of Calgary)
Our jazz festival is run as a POD system. This means that three groups arrive at the same time and go to three different warm-up spaces. Everyone comes together and each group gets to perform for one another. At the end of everyone's performances, each group returns to their warm-up space for an clinic workshop with one of the adjudicators.
Each band must perform TWO contrasting pieces in different styles (band director's choice). For example, they might choose to play a swing tune and a ballad.
