Welcome to the Edmonton Alberta International Band Festival - "Where young Albertans learn to play, and play to learn." 

The Alberta International Band Festivals (Northern Alberta and Southern Alberta) are run by volunteers. The festival is a charitable organization dedicated to providing a performance platform for junior high/middle school, high school, and community bands. The Festivals are held each year in Calgary and Edmonton. Organizers are committed to providing participants with a valuable and stimulating educational experience in a non-competitive atmosphere as either a concert band or a jazz ensemble.

CONCERT BANDS will perform Monday through Friday, March 15-19, 2027. JAZZ BANDS will perform Wednesday and Thursday, March 17 & 18, 2027. Our FEATURE CONCERT will take place Wednesday, March 17 @ 7 PM. 2027 Edmonton Festival Dates

  • Concert Band 2027 (Grades 1 - 6)

    15 - 19, 2027

    Fringe Festival Arts Barn located at 10330 - 84th Avenue

    NEW FORMAT for the 2027 Concert Band portion of AIBF EDMONTON

    Grade 1 - 6 Concert Bands will have 40 minutes on the performance stage which will include your performance and an onstage clinic.

    Each band will perform 2 or 3 selections at the director's discretion, provided the time allotment is not exceeded. Whatever time is left in your 40 minute slot will be used for your clinic onstage. Please plan your program to allow sufficient time for your clinic with our amazing adjudicators.

    The festival does not utilize a required or suggested repertoire list. Adjudicators may comment on the suitability and appropriateness of repertoire on the adjudication sheets.

  • Jazz Bands (All Levels)

    March 17 & 18, 2027

    Old Stratcona Performing Arts Centre located at 8426 Gateway Boulevard

    Jazz Ensembles will have 45 minutes on stage for their performance and clinic.

    Each band will perform 2 or 3 selections at the director's discretion, provided the time allotment is not exceeded. Please ensure to allow time for your ensemble to get on and off the stage and time in between pieces for adjudicators to finish their comments when you put your program together.

    The festival does not utilize a required or suggested repertoire list. Adjudicators may comment on the suitability and appropriateness of repertoire on the adjudication sheets.
